CTD Karachi Arrests Key TTP Terrorists in Major Operations

KARACHI: In a significant crackdown on terrorist activities, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Karachi conducted an operation in the Site area, resulting in the arrest of a prominent Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist, Hidayatullah.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the apprehended terrorist, also known as Maulana Abdul Hakim, was responsible for overseeing the educational affairs of TTP in both Swat and Karachi. Hidayatullah was caught while actively collecting funds for the proscribed TTP organization, marking a substantial disruption in their financial network.

The spokesperson further disclosed that Hidayatullah’s involvement in extremist activities is deeply rooted in his family background. His father, Mohammad Ghaus, was killed in Afghanistan in the year 2000, highlighting a longstanding connection to militant activities. Additionally, Hidayatullah’s brother, Kifayatullah, was a close associate of TTP Swat leader Maulvi Fazlullah and had been missing since the military operations in Swat.

In a concurrent operation, the CTD also arrested two terrorists belonging to the banned TTP Hafiz Gul Bahadur group in the Sohrab Goth area of Karachi. According to CTD DIG Asif Ejaz Sheikh, these individuals were associated with the TTP Hafiz Gul Bahadur faction, another dangerous arm of the larger TTP network.

DIG Sheikh emphasized the importance of these arrests, stating that the apprehended terrorists were involved in planning and executing various terror-related activities, posing a significant threat to the peace and security of the region. The successful operations underscore the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies to dismantle terrorist networks and curb their influence in Karachi.

These arrests mark a critical victory in the ongoing fight against terrorism in Pakistan, as authorities continue to intensify their efforts to secure the region and protect its citizens from extremist threats. The CTD’s operations serve as a testament to their commitment to maintaining peace and security in Karachi and beyond.
