Cruelty to child section added to the FIR against Judge’s wife for torturing a 14-year-old girl

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police added Section 328-A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) to the First Information Report (FIR) against the wife of Civil Judge Asim Hafeez. The FIR accuses her of brutally torturing a 14-year-old maid.

The victim was taken to a hospital in Lahore with serious injuries on July 25. The police promptly filed a case against the judge’s wife for allegedly brutally torturing the girl.

The victim’s parents discovered the abuse when they visited her on July 23. They heard her crying inside the judge’s house. They found her with numerous injuries all over her body, including serious wounds on her head.

Wife

The complainant alleges that the judge’s wife, Somia, had been subjecting their daughter to severe torture. They also blamed her for illegally keeping her in custody since she started working at their house. The injuries listed in the FIR include swelling on lips and eyes, broken teeth, ribs, and strangling marks on the neck.

Judge’s wife gets bail

The Lahore High Court (LHC) granted protective bail to the wife of the civil judge who was accused of torturing her teenage domestic help. Justice Farooq Haider approved her request for bail until August 1 and also directed authorities to refrain from arresting her.

The judge’s wife stated her willingness to cooperate with the ongoing investigation regarding the allegations made against her.

Preliminary medical reports

The victim’s medical report disclosed 15 severe wounds across her body, with a particular focus on the head and face. The preliminary report mentioned that her wounds worsened due to the denial of treatment for seven months.

She was subsequently transferred from Sargodha to Lahore for proper medical attention, but even there, the doctors had limited optimism about her condition.

As for the judge involved, the federal capital police have been unsuccessful in apprehending him for questioning. Despite conducting raids at potential hideouts in Lahore and Gujranwala, they have not been able to locate the judge’s wife for investigation.
