Fatima’s Grave: Protective Measures and Legal Developments
Earlier, the court granted permission to exhume the grave of the minor maid, Fatima. As a result, the police placed a picket near the burial site of the girl due to the reported unusual activity around the victim’s grave.
Considering the plea submitted to the court for exhumation, the family members expressed concerns that tampering with Fatima’s resting place could occur, which might potentially result in the disappearance of her remains.
To safeguard the scene and preserve the sanctity of the grave, a temporary police picket was established.
Emphasizing the importance of maintaining potential evidence and upholding the integrity of Fatima’s grave, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rohail Khoso underlined these measures.
Earlier, Khairpur’s judicial magistrate granted a 4-day physical remand for Pir Asad Shah Jeelani, a member of the influential Pirs of Ranipur, in connection with a case involving the alleged torture of an underage domestic worker in Sindh’s Ranipur.
The primary suspect, Pir Asad Shah Jeelani, who was arrested by Khairpur Police on charges of torturing his 10-year-old maid, Fatima Furiro, to death, was presented before Judicial Magistrate Sobho Dero.
The police had requested a 15-day physical remand, but the magistrate approved a 4-day physical remand and sent the accused to jail.
The matter initially came to public attention after video clips displaying Fatima’s body with severe torture marks circulated on social media.
The video depicts the severely injured girl struggling to sit up on her bed before collapsing.
