ISLAMABAD: Authorities have initiated a nationwide crackdown against bank managers engaged in the Hawala and Hundi business.
“Across the country, authorities have filed cases against eight bank managers,” sources disclosed.
“The cases have been registered in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Faisalabad.”
“In one case, a bank manager named Zeeshan Shaukat has been apprehended in Faisalabad,” sources stated. “During the investigation, stamps from 12 different companies were discovered in Zeeshan Shaukat’s possession.”
Furthermore, investigators have found records of crores of rupees in Hawala Hundi transactions on mobile phones.
Sources also report that details of various bank managers’ accounts have come to light.
The Director General of FIA has issued orders for a comprehensive examination of the offices of all exchange companies.
