Court Extended Bushra Bibi’s Bail in Toshakhana Case

Toshakhana Case

ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, an Islamabad district and session court extended Bushra Bibi’s interim bail in the Toshakhana case until September 12.

Bushra Bibi, the former first lady and wife of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, appeared in front of Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra’s court, accompanied by her lawyers Salman Safdar, Intezar Panjotha, and Naeem Panjotha.

During the proceedings, the investigation officer (IO), who was also present in court, requested the judge’s permission to arrest the former first lady, stating that her audio had already been sent to the Federal Investigation Agency for forensic analysis.

In response, Bushra’s lawyer, Salman Safdar, expressed dissatisfaction with the investigators’ conduct, alleging that they had called his client and made her wait for hours. He added, “My client has already told them that the audio in question was not hers.”

The judge inquired about the origin of the audio, given that the case was related to fake receipts. He instructed the IO to focus on the text of the FIR.

The IO requested the court to grant more time to compare Bushra’s voice with the audio. Consequently, the court adjourned the case’s hearing until September 12.

Toshakhana Case

The NAB accused the former first lady of retaining a locket, chain, earrings, two rings, and a bracelet from the Toshakhana gifts.

The NAB has stated that they did not submit the gifts to the Toshakhana for price assessment.

The Toshakhana issue escalated in national politics when the Election Commission of Pakistan disqualified the PTI chief for making “false statements and incorrect declarations.”

Lawmakers from the ruling coalition filed the reference, alleging that Imran had failed to disclose details of the gifts he retained from the Toshakhana during his time as prime minister.

Subsequently, the IHC suspended the PTI chief’s conviction and ordered his release on bail from Attock Jail. A special court ordered the PTI chairman to remain in judicial lockup in the cipher case.
