Commencement of Nomination Paper Scrutiny for National Assembly’s Women and General Seats

The Election Commission’s regional offices are currently in the process of scrutinizing nomination papers for both general and women’s reserved seats in the National Assembly.

At the District Returning Officer (DRO) office in Karachi’s District Central, the nomination papers of Syed Abbas Hasnain from PTI for NA-247 have been approved.

Simultaneously, the scrutiny of nomination papers for reserved seats in Sindh is ongoing. PPP’s Shazia Marri’s documents for a women’s seat in the National Assembly were found to be valid. Similarly, nomination papers of Sadia Javed, Tanzeela Qambrani, Shazia Sanghar for reserved seats for women in the Sindh Assembly were approved, along with papers for Rubina Qaimkhani and Kulsoom Chandio.

MQM’s Afshan Qambar’s nomination papers for a reserved seat in Sindh and PPP’s Sahar Kamran for a women’s seat in the National Assembly were also deemed valid.

In Lahore, the scrutiny of nomination papers for general seats is ongoing until December 30. The process has already been completed for independent candidate Asghar Ali from NA-121, PTI’s Wasim Qadir from NA-121, PTI leader Muhammad Khan Madani from NA-118, and PPP leader Zulfiqar Badr from PP-162.

Meanwhile, the scrutiny of nomination papers for women’s reserved seats for the general elections will commence tomorrow. PML-N and PPP candidates will undergo scrutiny on December 26, followed by Jamaat-e-Islami and Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan on December 27, and candidates from Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party and other parties on December 28.

In Multan, the scrutiny of nomination papers for six National Assembly and 12 provincial constituencies is underway, with various candidates called by Returning Officers. Details of seconders and proposers are also being verified. Notably, former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Ahmed Hussain Dehar, Mehrabano and Zain Qureshi (children of Qureshi), and Javed Hashmi are scheduled for scrutiny on December 30.
