Amid growing concerns over extremism, sectarianism, and anti-state narratives, the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has issued a comprehensive declaration urging all citizens of Pakistan to reaffirm their commitment to the Constitution and the state.
The CII cautioned that any public or private educational institution found promoting radical ideologies or militancy will face strict legal consequences.
The statement firmly condemned any form of disrespect directed toward Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his Companions (RA), or the Ahl al-Bayt (RA), describing such behavior as wholly unacceptable. It also explicitly prohibited the practice of declaring others non-believers (takfir), emphasizing the need to foster religious harmony.
The Council stressed that every citizen is constitutionally bound to uphold their oath of allegiance. While the Constitution ensures the right to freedom of religion, worship, and peaceful expression, the declaration highlighted that armed rebellion or incitement against the state is a grave offense.
Reaffirming its full confidence in Pakistan’s armed forces, the CII called for national solidarity and urged the public to stand by the country’s defense institutions.
It further emphasized that opposing any movement founded on ethnic, regional, or sectarian divisions is both a religious and civic duty. The Council voiced strong support for legal measures against those inciting hatred, disorder, or violence in society.
In its concluding remarks, the CII declared that compelling others to adopt particular beliefs through force or intimidation contradicts Islamic teachings. It called on citizens to promote tolerance, unity, and peaceful adherence to both constitutional and Islamic values.
