SJC Meeting
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa has convened a Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) meeting on November 20 to address complaints against apex court judges. The decision follows complaints against Justices Sayyed Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi and Sardar Tariq Masood.
During the meeting, CJP Isa is expected to evaluate the filed complaints, while the SJC will address objections raised by the mentioned judges regarding the involvement of Chief Justice Isa and Justice Naeem Afghan in hearing complaints against them.
Justice Naqvi recently submitted a preliminary reply, objecting to the participation of three commission members, including CJP Isa, Justice Masood, and Justice Naeem Afghan, citing “bias” and other grounds.
Justice Naqvi asserted that the proceedings against him are politically motivated and lack legality, propriety, and transparency. He objected to CJP Isa and Justice Afghan’s participation in SJC proceedings, as they are part of the inquiry commission investigating the audio leaks case against him.
Justice Naqvi claimed that the opinions expressed by Justice Masood in letters disqualified him from hearing complaints against him, and he deliberately delayed expressing his views until a change in the SJC’s composition after former CJP Umar Ata Bandial. Justice Naqvi emphasized that Justice Masood is also facing a complaint before the SJC.
