Scheduled for the summit’s inaugural day, PM Kakar will participate in a traditional reception hosted by US President Joe Biden, alongside other guests.

Biden and his wife Jill Biden will receive the guests at the American Museum of National History. The museum is located next to the UN Headquarters in Manhattan.

A small delegation will accompany the prime minister. This delegation includes interim Foreign Minister Syed Jalil Abbas Jilani, interim Information and Broadcasting Minister Murtaza Solangi. It also includes interim Climate Changes and Law and Parliamentary and Water Resources Affairs Minister Ahmad Irfan Aslam, and Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Qazi.

PM Kakar will be addressing the UN summit on September 22. He might return the same day after delivering his speech.

Sources have indicated that before heading to the United States, the prime minister might undertake a brief visit to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Last week, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Munir Akram, affirmed that the caretaker government of Pakistan will actively participate in the UNGA session. The government will present the country’s stance on global issues.

Aside from the UNGA summit, the PM will also represent Pakistan at a US conference focusing on sustainable development.
