CAA Announces Direct Collection of Airport Fees from Travelers

Airport Fees

KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has introduced a new policy for domestic passengers, initiating the collection of airport fees directly from travelers starting January 15. As per the notification issued by CAA, passengers will now be required to pay Rs100, covering airport charges, security charges, and embarkation fees, among others.

This change in the fee collection process is part of the aviation authority’s efforts to enhance security measures at major airports. Additionally, the CAA plans to replace older baggage scanning machines with 28 modern ones, which are expected to be operational by February 2024. These advanced machines will be provided to the Air Security Force (ASF) to strengthen security protocols.

The decision to collect fees directly from passengers aims to streamline the payment process and ensure transparency in financial transactions related to airport charges. The new policy is expected to contribute to the improvement of airport infrastructure and security measures.

The implementation of modern baggage scanning machines reflects the CAA’s commitment to adopting advanced technologies for enhanced security and efficiency in aviation operations. The phased replacement of older machines demonstrates a proactive approach to keeping airport security measures up to date.

Travelers are advised to be aware of the new fee collection system and make necessary arrangements for the payment of airport charges when planning domestic flights. The move is aligned with the aviation industry’s continuous efforts to enhance passenger safety and overall airport security. The CAA remains focused on maintaining high standards of security and efficiency in air travel for the benefit of all stakeholders.
