Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Manika arrested at Lahore Airport

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) detained Khawar Manika, the ex-husband of Bushra Bibi, at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on Monday. They subsequently handed him over to the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE).

According to reports, Manika was traveling to Dubai when FIA officials conducted a verification check at the airport. They temporarily detained him and then transferred him to the ACE.

Manika

The ACE has filed a case against Manika, alleging that he, as a government employee, obtained the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) for international travel. However, authorities stopped him from traveling because his name appeared on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Khawar Manika is a senior official in the Customs department and hails from Pakpattan. He is also known for his spiritual devotion to the 13th-century mystic Baba Farid Ganj Shakkar.

It’s worth noting that Khawar’s father, Ghulam Muhammad Maneka, was a prominent politician who served as a federal minister during the tenure of Benazir Bhutto. Ghulam Muhammad Maneka passed away in 2011.

Anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan Safely Returns Home After Four-Month Disappearance

In another development, the Inspector General of Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar has confirmed that anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan, who was missing for more than four months is now “safe at home”. Sialkot District Police Officer Hassan Iqbal and Riaz’s lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq, also verified this development.

The authorities apprehended Imran Riaz, a YouTuber and television anchor, two days after widespread violent protests erupted across the country following the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan on May 9. They took him to Cantt police station and subsequently to Sialkot prison after his arrest.

On September 20, the LHC had given the Punjab police chief a final chance to locate Riaz by September 26 (tomorrow). Simultaneously, his lawyer Ashfaq, in a post on X, expressed, “By God’s special blessing, grace, and mercy, I have brought back my prince. It took a considerable amount of time due to numerous challenges, limited understanding of the matter, a fragile judiciary, and the current ineffectiveness of the public constitution and legal support.”
