Bushra Bibi avoids the gathered reporters outside the prison

ISLAMABAD: The former first lady, Bushra Bibi, visited Attock jail to meet her husband and PTI Chairman, Imran Khan, Today. Their meeting extended for an hour, and upon its conclusion, Bushra Bibi departed for Lahore without engaging with the reporters present outside the jail premises.

After a short standoff, she gained entry to the jail. When Bushra Bibi reached the prison area around 2pm, a police checkpoint halted her progress.

PTI lawyers and others were also prevented by the police from advancing beyond the barrier, resulting in a 30-minute standoff.

Police confiscated journalists’ phones, preventing them from capturing photos.

Ultimately, the police granted Bushra Bibi permission to meet the PTI chief, while the lawyers were denied access.

Imran Khan’s lawyer Naeem Haider Panjutha said, “Bushra Bibi has got the permission but the legal team is being asked to meet next week. Perhaps it is because of [my] previous press conference. The legal team has every right to meet Imrna Khan because it needs to receive instructions about pleading the case. This is our right.”

Last week, Panjutha had a meeting with Imran Khan, and following that, he conducted a press conference to relay the message of the PTI chief to the party members.

During Bushra Bibi’s visit to the jail, Panjutha, Sher Afzal Marwat, and other PTI leaders remained outside. She was taken to the inner gate of the jail in a police van.

After his arrest, Bushra Bibi becomes the first family member to meet Khan in person.

Accompanied by Khan’s legal team, she traveled from Lahore to Islamabad, where she appeared before the court, and then proceeded to Attock. She reached the northwestern Punjab city, situated 400 kilometers away from Lahore, around noon.

Imran Khan’s arrest occurred on Saturday, August 6, at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore. Immediately after his arrest, he was transported to Attock prison, where he is being held separately from other inmates.

Yesterday, the Islamabad High Court granted permission for Imran Khan’s lawyers to meet with him.

Bushra Bibi also faces the potential risk of arrest, as she is a co-accused in the £190 million NAB case involving a property tycoon.

A NAB court, presided over by Judge Mohammad Bashir, postponed judgment until 2pm after barring the accountability body from arresting her.

Imran Khan has lodged a petition with Islamabad, requesting a transfer from Attock jail to Rawalpindi’s Adiala prison. The latter location offers better accessibility for party leaders and improved facilities. Additionally, he is advocating for A-Class facilities for himself while in detention.
