Bushra Bibi Granted Interim Bail in November 26 Protest Cases

Interim Bail

ISLAMABAD: The District and Session Court has granted interim bail to Bushra Bibi, the former first lady of Pakistan, in connection with the cases linked to the November 26th protests.

The interim bail, which is valid until January 13, was approved after Bushra Bibi appeared before the court with her legal team. The hearing for the bail petitions was conducted by Duty Judge Shabeer Bhatti.

Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, was seeking bail in multiple cases related to protests. Four of these cases were registered against her at the Tarnol police station, while three others were registered at the Ramana police station.

The District and Session Court granted her bail in these cases after she provided surety bonds of Rs. 50,000 each for each case.

This development follows a similar decision by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on December 21, when Bushra Bibi was granted interim bail in 32 cases. These cases included 23 related to the violence that occurred on May 9.

The court in Rawalpindi also approved interim bail for Bushra Bibi until January 13. She appeared before the ATC along with her counsel and was granted bail in 32 different cases spread across Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal.

Her lawyer, Faisal Malik, emphasized that the cases against Bushra Bibi were politically motivated and were aimed at seeking vengeance.

Malik further clarified that the former first lady had surrendered herself to the court voluntarily, and was nominated in 23 cases in Rawalpindi alone.

Following the bail hearing, Bushra Bibi left the court premises and is expected to return for her next court appearance in mid-January.

This legal relief marks a significant moment in the ongoing legal battles for Bushra Bibi, who continues to face multiple cases in different regions of Pakistan.

The interim bail provides her with temporary relief, but the legal process is expected to continue into the new year.
