The wife of Vietnam’s ambassador to Pakistan, Nguyen Tien Phong, has been reported missing in Islamabad, Pakistan’s federal capital, sources revealed on Saturday. Ambassador Nguyen Tien Phong himself contacted police helpline 15 to report his wife’s disappearance.
Confirming the call from Ambassador Phong, a police spokesperson acknowledged the gravity of the situation.
According to the ambassador, his wife went for a routine walk at 11 a.m. but did not return home. Adding to the concern, her mobile phone was switched off, hampering communication attempts.
Upon receiving the complaint, police promptly launched a search operation to find the missing individual. The spokesperson assured that the City Superintendent of Police (SP City) was personally overseeing the matter, underscoring the priority placed on resolving the situation and ensuring the ambassador’s wife’s safety.
Efforts are underway to gather any potential leads and information to assist in the search and reunite the ambassador’s wife with her family. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to step forward and aid in the ongoing investigation.
Police officials have elaborated that separate teams from the operation and investigation divisions have been assembled to locate the missing woman. “The investigation is proceeding with a focus on domestic matters,” they stated, noting that the Operations DIG and SSP are personally supervising the investigation.
