DI Khan Attack
DI KHAN: In a tragic incident near York Toll Plaza in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan district, two officials of Pakistan Customs fell victim to a fatal attack, as reported by the police on Sunday.
The assailants, yet to be identified, launched a gun attack, resulting in the deaths of the two officials. Additionally, four others sustained injuries in the assault and have been rushed to DHQ Hospital for treatment.
Law enforcement officials disclosed that the armed assailants swiftly fled the scene following the attack, leaving behind a scene of chaos and tragedy.
This marks the second assault targeting Customs officials in DI Khan within the same week. Just days prior, on April 18th, a similar attack claimed the lives of six individuals, including five Customs officials, in the KP district.
The assailants struck on the Sago Road in Daraban tehsil of the district, taking advantage of their concealed position in the bushes.
They ambushed the Customs vehicle, carrying out their deadly assault before making a swift getaway on motorcycles.
The attackers managed to evade any immediate pursuit, leaving law enforcement authorities to piece together the aftermath of the heinous act.
Tragically, the attack resulted in further collateral damage as the driver of the Customs vehicle lost control amidst the chaos, leading to a fatal collision with another vehicle.
This additional loss of life underscores the indiscriminate and devastating nature of such violent incidents.
The Department of Interior and Tribal Affairs KP has released statistics highlighting the persistent threat of terrorism in various regions.
Peshawar, Khyber, Bajaur, and Tank are identified as areas most heavily affected by terrorism, with Dera Ismail Khan, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan also included in the list of terror-affected areas.
These sobering statistics underscore the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in combating terrorism and maintaining peace and security in the region.
