A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) delegation, led by party chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, made an unannounced visit to Adiala Jail on Monday night to meet PTI founder Imran Khan. The delegation, which included three senior party leaders, briefed Khan on the latest developments in the ongoing negotiations with the government.
Sources revealed that the meeting, which lasted for just over an hour, was centered around the party’s protest plans and the behind-the-scenes discussions between PTI and government representatives. Barrister Gohar is said to have conveyed a message from the PTI leadership to the incarcerated Khan during the visit.
Additionally, Barrister Gohar and Barrister Saif had another important meeting with Imran Khan earlier in the day at Adiala Jail, which lasted for an hour and a half. Afterward, both leaders left the premises without disclosing specific details of the discussions.
Speaking to the media afterward, Barrister Gohar emphasized that Imran Khan’s call for the protest march remained unchanged. “The protest is final, it has not been called off,” he asserted.
When questioned about the ongoing negotiations with the government, Barrister Gohar expressed optimism, saying, “If the talks progress, God willing, we will engage further.” Reports suggest that the government has reached out to PTI leadership to discuss an alternative location for their planned protest, which had initially been set for D-Chowk.
Sources indicated that discussions between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and PTI leaders were held at the Ministers Enclave, where the government proposed an alternative site, possibly Peshawar Morr or another location on the outskirts of Islamabad. The government’s key condition for the arrangement is that PTI protesters must remain confined to the designated area and not advance toward the Red Zone.
Officials also reportedly urged PTI leaders to avoid entering Islamabad entirely, citing a scheduled business conference with Belarusian investors in the capital.
