President Zardari appoints three judges to Supreme Court

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa is set to administer the oath to three recently appointed judges, marking a significant development in Pakistan’s judiciary.

President Asif Ali Zardari’s approval on Monday of these appointments, as signaled by the Federal Ministry of Law’s notification, underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the Supreme Court’s judicial bench.

The appointees include Justice Malik Shahzad, currently serving as Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, alongside Justice Shahid Bilal, a respected judge within the Lahore High Court, and Justice Aqeel Abbasi, holding the position of Chief Justice at the Sindh High Court.

Each brings a wealth of experience and expertise to their new roles, promising to contribute significantly to the highest echelons of the judiciary.

Simultaneously, the Lahore High Court will witness Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, a seasoned jurist from its own ranks, stepping into the role of Acting Chief Justice, a move solidified by an official communique.

Similarly, Justice Shafi Siddiqui of the Sindh High Court assumes the mantle of Acting Chief Justice for his jurisdiction, reflecting a strategic reshuffle within the judiciary.

The ceremony where Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa will administer the oath signifies not only a procedural formality but also a ceremonial affirmation of the judges’ commitment to upholding justice and the rule of law. It highlights the judiciary’s pivotal role in maintaining the constitutional balance and ensuring the effective dispensation of justice across the nation.

This event underscores the ongoing efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s judiciary, ensuring it remains a cornerstone of the country’s democratic framework. As these judges take their oaths under the auspices of Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, they embark on a journey committed to the principles of fairness, integrity, and judicial independence, essential for safeguarding the rights and liberties of all citizens.
