ISLAMABAD: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad has issued notices to several individuals suspected of orchestrating a social media campaign aimed at inciting chaos and unrest in Pakistan.
The notices were served to Sibghatullah Wirk, Muhammad Arshad, Atta-ur-Rahman, Azhar Mashwani, Komal Afridi, Uroosa Nadeem Shah, and M. Ali Malik, summoning them to appear before a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on December 13.
JIT Investigation Underway
The JIT, established under Section 30 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 (PECA), is investigating allegations that the suspects used social media platforms to provoke discord.
The team is working to uncover the motives behind the campaign and identify any potential accomplices. Authorities anticipate further arrests and legal action under applicable laws.
Substantial Evidence Collected
The IGP stated that the JIT has gathered substantial evidence connecting the suspects to a coordinated effort aimed at destabilizing the country. The investigation is ongoing, and additional developments are expected as the case progresses.
The authorities have reiterated their commitment to addressing cybercrime and ensuring that digital platforms are not misused to threaten national stability.
