ISLAMABAD: The capital city of Pakistan witnessed intense unrest on Monday night as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters clashed with security personnel at multiple locations.
The violence escalated after miscreants rammed a vehicle into Rangers personnel on the Srinagar Highway, resulting in the martyrdom of four Rangers officials and injuries to five others, including police officers, according to security sources.
So far, six law enforcement personnel, including two police officers, have been martyred during attacks by protesters heading to Islamabad for a sit-in demonstration. Security officials also confirmed that over 100 police personnel have been injured in the clashes, with many sustaining severe injuries, according to Dawn.com.
Earlier in the evening, an alleged attack by PTI workers at Chungi No. 26 injured a Rangers official, who was subsequently shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for treatment. Protesters reportedly hurled stones and opened fire on security forces, further escalating tensions.
Authorities are working to identify individuals involved in the attacks, emphasizing that all “malicious elements” will be held accountable.

Earlier, violence intensified as the convoy of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi advanced toward Islamabad. Miscreants reportedly attacked law enforcement personnel under the guise of protests, leading to significant casualties.
Among those killed was Police Constable Mubashir, 46, who succumbed to a head injury sustained during a confrontation at Hakla Interchange. Mubashir, a resident of Muzaffargarh, leaves behind two daughters and a son.
In Attock, three police officers were critically injured during a shooting incident near Katti Pahari. Constable Wajid from Faisalabad sustained a neck injury, while Constable Samiullah from Sargodha was shot in the leg. Both remain in critical condition. Another officer, also named Samiullah, suffered severe injuries from stone-pelting and is receiving treatment in Hasanabdal.
Dozens of injured personnel have been admitted to various hospitals, with authorities relying on CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the perpetrators behind these violent acts.
The clashes mark a sharp escalation in political unrest, drawing parallels with previous incidents of violence and raising concerns about the security situation in the capital and surrounding regions.
