Fire Engulfs Tezgam Express En Route to Karachi

Tezgam Express

A fire broke out in a brake coach of the Tezgam Express traveling from Lahore to Karachi, causing significant damage and resulting in the loss of goods worth millions of rupees.

The incident occurred near Raiwind when the train was passing through the area. Passengers noticed smoke rising from the brake coach attached to the engine, leading to panic and alarms being raised.

Upon realizing the seriousness of the situation, the train was immediately brought to a halt. Passengers, railway officials, and rescue teams coordinated efforts to detach the affected coach from the engine to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the train. Their quick response helped bring the fire under control before it could escalate further.

In response to the incident, railway authorities halted all trains traveling from Lahore to Karachi at Lahore Railway Station.

Additionally, train traffic on the entire downtrack was temporarily suspended to ensure passenger safety and to allow rescue operations to proceed without hindrance.

After several hours of effort, the damaged brake coach was successfully detached, enabling the Tezgam Express to resume its journey to Karachi.

Meanwhile, train services from Karachi to Lahore remained unaffected, with incoming trains operating according to their schedules.

Railway officials have announced the formation of an investigation team to determine the cause of the fire.

Preliminary reports suggest that the fire might have originated due to a technical malfunction, but further analysis is required to confirm this.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, as passengers acted promptly, and rescue teams arrived on time.

While the exact monetary losses are yet to be determined, the destruction of goods has been estimated to run into millions of rupees.

This unfortunate incident highlights the importance of enhanced safety measures on trains to prevent similar events in the future.

Railway authorities have vowed to take corrective steps to ensure passenger safety and avoid such occurrences.
