Retired Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed has been formally charged with multiple offenses, including involvement in political activities, breaches of the Official Secrets Act that jeopardized national security, abuse of authority, misuse of government resources, and causing undue harm to individuals.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that legal proceedings under the Pakistan Army Act commenced on August 12, 2024, through a Field General Court Martial.
In the latest development, Lt. Gen. (Retd) Faiz Hameed has been officially arraigned, facing allegations of compromising state security and acting in collaboration with political elements.
“[…] and has been formally charged with engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act to the detriment of state security and interests, abusing authority and government resources, and causing undue harm to individuals,” the military’s media wing stated in a brief announcement on Tuesday.
A separate investigation is underway to probe his suspected role in violent incidents and unrest across the country, including events linked to May 9. The inquiry aims to uncover his possible collusion with political factions and actions taken under their directives.
The ISPR assured that Lt. Gen. (Retd) Hameed is being afforded all legal rights and due process under the law during the court martial proceedings.
