RAWALPINDI: Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations, will hold a press conference today at 3 PM at the General Headquarters.
The briefing will address the current security situation in the country, according to news. This press conference follows Lt Gen Chaudhry’s recent discussion on the threats posed by “militants and digital terrorists,” where he emphasized the sacrifices made by the armed forces in combating terrorism.
In his previous address, the DG ISPR highlighted the issue of digital terrorism on social media and urged national unity in the fight against both conventional and digital threats.
Lt Gen Chaudhry also commented on the politicization of serious issues, using the Azm-e-Istehkam campaign as an example. He clarified that Azm-e-Istehkam is a comprehensive counter-terrorism initiative rather than a mere military operation, as it has sometimes been portrayed.
The press conference comes two days after a security convoy for judges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was attacked, resulting in the deaths of two policemen.
According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), the second quarter of 2024 saw 380 fatalities and 220 injuries due to violence, including 240 terror attacks and counter-terror operations.
KP and Balochistan, both bordering Afghanistan, experienced nearly 92% of these fatalities and 87% of the attacks, with KP suffering 67% and Balochistan 25% of the total fatalities during this period.
