LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb held a press conference on Wednesday, announcing that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s health had worsened on Monday night.
Aurangzeb explained that Nawaz, who had undergone thyroid surgery last year, is now facing complications related to that procedure. “Maryam Nawaz has been working tirelessly for the past eight months, but her health took a downturn, and she was admitted to the hospital,” Aurangzeb said.
Due to her condition, Maryam Nawaz will be traveling to Geneva later tonight for urgent medical attention from her surgeon based there. Aurangzeb stated that the Chief Minister’s doctor recommended immediate treatment.
Maryam Nawaz is expected to return to Pakistan by November 12.
Despite her health challenges, Aurangzeb assured the public that Maryam Nawaz would continue her duties remotely from Geneva. “She will still hold meetings and stay updated on key matters. Even late at night, she has been receiving updates from the DC and IG on the situation in Punjab,” Aurangzeb added.
