Arrests at D-Chowk: PTI Founder’s Sisters Detained Amid Protests

PTI Founder’s Sisters

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police arrested Aleema and Uzma Khan, the two sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, on Friday during a planned demonstration at D-Chowk.

According to reports, the sisters were detained shortly after they arrived to join PTI workers participating in the protest. Following their arrest, Aleema and Uzma Khan were taken to the secretariat police station for further proceedings.

The arrests occurred amid heightened security measures implemented by the Punjab government, which invoked Section 144 in several cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock, and Sargodha, to prohibit political gatherings, protests, and rallies.

This decision reflects the government’s effort to maintain law and order in light of increasing tensions surrounding political activities.

As part of these security measures, the Punjab government deployed Rangers personnel to assist local law enforcement.

In Lahore alone, three companies of Rangers were requested to ensure order during the planned protests, particularly on October 5.

The restrictions under Section 144 are set to remain in effect for three days, from October 4 to October 6, in the affected areas, signaling a strong government response to anticipated protests.

The arrests of Imran Khan’s sisters highlight the ongoing political unrest and crackdown on PTI activities as the party continues to rally against what they deem unlawful actions by the government.

The PTI has been vocal in its opposition to recent developments, asserting that such measures infringe on the democratic rights of its members and supporters.

As tensions rise, the political landscape in Pakistan remains charged, with both sides preparing for a possible escalation of protests in response to the government’s restrictions.

The situation is being closely monitored, with implications for both the PTI and the current government as they navigate this turbulent period in Pakistan’s political history.
