25 Convicts Jailed by Military Court Over May 9 Riots: Full Details

25 Convicts

On Saturday, the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), provided details about 25 individuals sentenced to prison by military courts.

This comes after the Supreme Court’s decision last week, where a seven-judge constitutional bench conditionally allowed military courts to issue reserved verdicts for 85 civilians still in custody for their alleged involvement in the May 9, 2023, riots.

The charges stem from attacks on army installations that occurred after the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan on May 9, 2023.

The Supreme Court’s ruling in the case, which involved over 100 civilians accused of participating in these violent acts, led to the military courts proceeding with sentencing.
