Amid mounting unrest and a worsening security scenario, PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari stressed the urgent need for political stability, achievable through “dialogue or force.” Addressing the PPP’s 57th foundation day via video link to 150 districts, he underscored that political stability was vital for economic progress and combating terrorism.
“Political stability is indispensable for economic growth and countering terrorism. It must be achieved through dialogue or, if necessary, by force,” Bilawal remarked, expressing disappointment with the PML-N’s economic and security policies. He emphasized that the PPP has consistently advocated resolving issues through dialogue and collaboration rather than extreme measures such as banning political parties or imposing governor’s rule.
Bilawal criticized opposition parties for refusing to engage in meaningful dialogue, alleging their preference for discussions with non-democratic forces. He also addressed media reports about potential bans on PTI and the imposition of governor’s rule in KP, stating that the PPP was not consulted on such matters. He reiterated the PPP’s opposition to these measures and called for decisions to be made through consensus.
The PPP chairperson voiced sharp criticism of the federal government’s policies, particularly in agriculture and security. He warned that flawed agricultural decisions could harm farmers and exacerbate tensions between the federal and provincial governments, especially concerning plans for an Indus River canal.
Bilawal also highlighted the alarming security situation in parts of the country, urging the need for a revised National Action Plan (NAP 2.0) to counter terrorism effectively.
The PPP marked its foundation day with large rallies in major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar, with key addresses by Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti and Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah in Quetta and Jamshoro, respectively.
