Vengeful Politics
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari attributed the failure of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led coalition government to “vengeful politics” during an address at a PPP workers convention in Chitral.

Bilawal criticized the former ruling parties for their lack of focus on public service, asserting that their intent was settling personal scores and engaging in revenge politics once in power.
As the country gears up for elections on February 8, 2024, Bilawal has initiated his campaign, rallying support and targeting opponents, including leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). He emphasized that his candidacy is based on performance rather than mere promises, citing his 16-month stint as the country’s foreign minister.
Calling for a shift in political leadership, Bilawal urged older politicians to step aside, make room for the younger generation, and embrace new approaches to governance. He highlighted the demographic youthfulness of Pakistan, stating that the country needs leaders who think about the future rather than adhering to outdated political practices.
Expressing concern about the country’s direction, Bilawal shared his vision for a PPP-led government, emphasizing the party’s ability to address national issues, including inflation, through its manifesto.
He pledged to fulfill his mother Benazir Bhutto’s unfinished mission with the support of the people.
Bilawal also expressed his desire to see a PPP member become the prime minister and announced plans to persuade his sister, Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari, to contest elections from the Chitral seat. Overall, his speech outlined a vision for a progressive and youth-focused political landscape, challenging the established norms of Pakistani politics.
