Balochistan to See Expanded Intelligence Operations After Deadly Quetta Attack

Intelligence Operations

Following the deadly Quetta attack that left 27 people dead and over 50 wounded, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti have announced plans to intensify intelligence-based operations in the province.

The decision comes in response to the Saturday attack near the railway station, which caused extensive damage, with bloodstains and destroyed personal belongings scattered across the scene.

The attack, believed to have been carried out by a suicide bomber carrying seven to eight kilograms of explosives, left a significant number of casualties, including both men and women.

At a meeting on the law and order situation in the province, Naqvi assured the Balochistan government of full federal support in combating terrorism.

He pledged to provide all necessary resources to Balochistan to tackle the growing threat of terrorism. “The federal government will provide all possible support to the Balochistan government to deal with the menace of terrorism,” he stated.

As part of the plan, resources would be allocated to enhance the training and capabilities of police forces, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Levies, and other law enforcement agencies in Balochistan.

Chief Minister Bugti emphasized the importance of strengthening the professional abilities of the police and other security forces, outlining plans to modernize their training programs with the help of the federal government.

He reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring peace in the region.

Bugti also expressed resolve to defeat the elements behind these attacks, describing them as forces attempting to destabilize Pakistan and weaken its unity. He stated that the government was committed to identifying and eliminating the groups involved in terrorism.

Both Naqvi and Bugti paid tribute to the victims of the attack and offered prayers for the martyrs. They expressed solidarity with the families of the deceased and reiterated their commitment to the eradication of terrorism in Balochistan.

Naqvi stressed that the federal government would continue to work closely with the provincial government to ensure peace and stability in the region, saying, “More efforts are being taken to ensure law and order.

A handful of elements are involved in terrorist activities in Balochistan which would be rooted out in every way.”
