Babar Azam’s Appearance at Shaheen Afridi’s Wedding Puts an End to Rumors of Conflict

ISLAMABAD: Babar Azam, the Pakistan skipper, dispelled rumors by attending the wedding of speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi.

rumors

Babar traveled exclusively from Dubai to Karachi to attend Shaheen Afridi’s Barat event. During this special occasion, the Pakistan captain shared warm embraces with Shaheen and former all-rounder Shahid Afridi.

Rumors of a rift between Shaheen and Babar had raised concerns among Pakistani fans ahead of the World Cup, as the national team heavily relies on its star players.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan’s left-arm pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi, dispelled these rumors by confirming a harmonious relationship with Captain Babar Azam. Speculation had surged following Pakistan’s exit from the 2023 Asia Cup after their defeat to Sri Lanka in the Super Four.

Some reports suggested that Shaheen and Babar had engaged in a verbal altercation in the dressing room following the loss to Sri Lanka.

However, Shaheen decisively put all speculations to rest by sharing a picture with Babar on Instagram and X, captioned “Family” with a heart emoticon.

Recent media reports indicate that fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is likely to replace all-rounder Shadab Khan as the vice-captain of the ODI and T20I teams. This potential change is due to Shadab Khan’s recent performance struggles, which have raised concerns.
