ISLAMABAD: The anti-terrorism court in Islamabad has postponed the hearing of human rights activist Imaan Mazari’s post-arrest bail plea until August 28th. The hearing scheduled for Saturday did not take place. The ATC duty judge Raja Jawad Abbas presided over the proceedings due to the off-day of Judge Zulqarnain Haider.
Present in court with her legal representatives, Imaan’s mother, Shireen Mazari, attended the hearing.
Imaan Mazari was sent to Adiala Jail on a 14-day judicial remand by the Islamabad ATC. This action was taken in relation to a sedition case linked to her controversial speech against state institutions.
Imaan was apprehended on August 20 following her social media post on platform X, where she claimed that unidentified individuals were breaking into her residence. Ali Wazir, a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), was also arrested.
Both individuals were charged with sedition, obstructing government officials in the performance of their duties, and causing damage to public property.
