ISLAMABAD: Anwarul Haq Kakar, who was chosen as the caretaker Prime Minister, has reportedly stepped down from his position in the Senate as well as his membership in the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).
According to sources, Anwarul Haq Kakar announced his resignation from the senate, stating that his primary duty is to ensure transparent elections.
Furthermore, the nominated prime minister revealed that consultations have commenced for forming the caretaker cabinet, as per sources.
A day earlier, Senator Anwarul Haq Kakar emerged as Pakistan’s designated caretaker prime minister. PM Shehbaz and Riaz forwarded their recommendations for Kakar’s appointment as the caretaker prime minister to President Alvi, the statement conveyed.
The prime minister expressed gratitude to the opposition leader for actively participating in the consultation process for selecting the caretaker PM.
Shortly after, the president endorsed the summary under Article 224 A of the Constitution.
Who is Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar?
The nominated new caretaker prime minister of Pakistan, Senator Anwar ul Haq Kakar, hails from Balochistan and holds membership in the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).
In 2018, Kakar secured a Senate seat and actively engaged in politics within Balochistan.
Concurrently, he assumed the role of the parliamentary leader for the newly formed Balochistan Awami Party in the Senate.
Anwarul Haq Kakar actively chaired the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, alongside his participation in the Business Advisory Committee, Finance and Revenue, Foreign Affairs, and Science and Technology as a member.
