LAHORE: In a recent development, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) has ordered the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed Khan and several other PTI party activists in a case related to violence that occurred on May 9. The ATC has approved their bail pleas.
The court granted bail to Sanam Javed Khan, Afshan Tariq, Ali Hassan, Umair, and Faisal Akhtar against surety bonds worth Rs 0.1 million each. However, the ATC rejected the bail plea of PTI leader Robina Jameel.
Prior to this court decision, the police re-arrested PTI women activists after their release from Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore. Policewomen arrested the PTI activists and took them back into custody after their release, as their families feared re-arrest.
Lahore High Court Grants Bail To PTI Activist Khadija Shah In May 9 Riots Cases
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted bail toย Khadija Shah,ย an activist associated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in two cases linked to the violent events that transpired on May 9.
A two-member bench of the LHC, presided over by Justice Ayla Neelum, presided over the case and extended bail to Khadija Shah and nine other individuals.
Prior to this, Khadija Shah, a PTI activist currently under judicial remand for her involvement in several cases related to the May 9 riots, had approached the Lahore High Court, requesting access to the particulars of all charges registered against her.

Advocate Sameer Khosa filed a petition on behalf of Ms. Shah, contending that she had been wrongly implicated by the police in these cases.
The petition highlights the petitionerโs right to be aware of any cases in order to ensure a fair trial.
Furthermore, the petition urges the court to instruct both the police and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to provide a comprehensive list of First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against the petitioner.
Additionally, the petition seeks protective bail to grant Khadija Shah the opportunity to request bail before an arrest and to participate in any investigations related to her.
Regarding the events of May 9, violent confrontations erupted throughout Pakistan following the arrest of former Prime Minister and PTI leader, Imran Khan, at the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
During one of these protests, PTI workers targeted army installations and the residence of the Corps Commander in Lahore, leading to attacks on these locations.
