Another sex scam

ISLAMABAD: Ghazi University in Dera Ghazi Khan has reported an alleged incident of sexual assault. The case came to public attention when journalist from Battagram, posted a video of the purported victim on X social media platform.

In the video, the victim Sana, a student of BS Physics, asserted, “If the vice chancellor does not take action, I will not tolerate this any longer and will set myself on fire within the university. The vice chancellor will bear the responsibility for this.”

Sana accused two staff members of harassment, stating that they were blackmailing both her and her younger sister.

She alleged that these teachers had warned her against disclosing anything to other faculty members or department heads.

The police reached out to the female student following the incident. The Gadai Police Station registered a complaint against two teachers from the Physics Department. DPO Ahsan Afzal said that the incident occurred in May.

Meanwhile, the university spokesperson claimed that the viral video on social media pertained to an older matter. The spokesperson said the university has suspended both accused.

However, so far, police did not register any FIR of the incident.

The university, nonetheless, is taking internal disciplinary measures regarding the issue.

This incident emerges amidst the Bahawalpur university scandal that has deeply impacted the nation.

Earlier this month, interim Punjab chief minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the establishment of a judicial commission to investigate the Bahawalpur university scandal.
