On Thursday, Aimal Wali Khan of the Awami National Party (ANP) announced that he would not recognize the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) mandate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Khan criticized the KP chief minister, calling him a “good actor” and lamenting the dire situation where people are struggling even to afford two meals a day. He described the nation as frustrated, likening the current state to spreading lava.
Aimal Wali Khan expressed concern that the situation in KP had become untenable and commended the region for its sacrifices. He questioned those who had facilitated the return of terrorists, demanding to know the terms of their return and noting the lack of progress on the National Action Plan (NAP), which was established after the APS incident.
Khan also criticized the recent decision by the government to shut down Utility Stores, accusing them of neglecting the poor despite their efforts to combat poverty. He argued that the closures were harmful to thousands who rely on these stores for basic necessities and criticized the government for offering aid abroad while failing to address domestic needs. Khan emphasized that temporary measures like these would not resolve the country’s economic issues and called for the right-sizing committee to take its responsibilities seriously. He assured that the ANP would not allow the public to suffer amid rising inflation.
