ISLAMABAD: On Saturday, the Afghan Interim Ambassador, Sardar Ahmad Jan Shakib, extended an invitation to JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to visit Afghanistan, according to the party spokesperson Aslam Ghauri. The meeting took place at Rehman’s residence in Islamabad, where the two leaders engaged in detailed discussions.
Ghauri mentioned that the Afghan envoy conveyed a special message from the Afghan government to Rehman during the meeting.
He stated, “The interim Ambassador of Afghanistan invited Maulana Fazlur Rehman to visit Afghanistan on behalf of the government of Afghanistan. The two leaders also discussed Pak-Afghan relations.”
It’s worth noting that the relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been strained, particularly due to an increase in terrorist attacks in Pakistan. Pakistan has accused the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) of these attacks targeting military personnel and civilians.
The Pakistani government has urged the Afghan interim government to take swift action against the perpetrators of cross-border attacks and hand over the alleged leadership of the outlawed TTP based in Afghanistan.
