Famous actor Rashid Mehmood expressed dismay over a high electricity bill in a recent video statement, questioning the purpose of his survival after surviving four heart attacks. In the four-minute viral video, he displayed his bill of Rs45,368 after consuming 701 units of electricity.
“You know, God spared me through four heart attacks. Today, I wonder why I’m alive in a country where I served honestly, yet face such burdens,” Mehmood lamented.
He criticized the lack of work opportunities in Lahore for years and accused those in power of money laundering without benefiting the country. “I feel betrayed for dedicating myself to this country. Maybe I should have joined thieves; then, I wouldn’t be in this desperate situation,” he added emotionally.
Expressing deep disappointment, Mehmood questioned his allegiance to a country that he feels has let down its artists. “There’s no work here; nobody cares. I’m worried and don’t want to continue like this,” he confessed.
While avoiding specific political affiliations, he criticized the political class for focusing on power struggles rather than addressing the issues faced by citizens and artists alike. “Nobody is looking out for us. God help us,” he concluded.
