Victor Hugo Sosa, a mayor of a small town in Mexico married a female crocodile to fulfill an age-old ritual. The ritual brings prosperity to the land, according to the belief of Sosa.
The groom Sosa kissed his bride _ female crocodile, dressed in white like a bride, whose snout was tied shut with a string.

Sosa carried the seven-year-old crocodile in his arms to complete all the festivities a proper wedding could have.
According to Sosa, “little princess”, a nickname of crocodile-bridge, will bring water and good harvest in the season as she represents a deity linked with mother earth.
“Her marriage to the local leader symbolizes the joining of humans with the divine,” BBC reported today.
The ritual of marrying crocodiles dates back to Oaxaca state’s Chontal and Huave indigenous communities.
“It is the union of two cultures. The union of the Huaves and the Chontales,” the publication quoted the groom as saying.
