KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: A Judicial Magistrate in Karachi East has sentenced a man named Faizan to nine years in prison for sharing explicit photos of his wife and blackmailing her.
According to the prosecution, Faizan sent indecent pictures of his wife to her brother via WhatsApp and used them to blackmail her. In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a fine of Rs90,000 on Faizan.
The case began when the wife’s brother filed a complaint with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), leading to Faizan’s arrest and the confiscation of his mobile phone.
Upon inspection, the phone was found to contain inappropriate images of his wife. She testified that they were married in 2019 and described how Faizan had physically abused her and demanded money.
Despite the defense lawyer’s claim that the phone had been misused, the court observed that Faizan failed to present any witnesses or evidence in his defense.
The court emphasized that his actions had damaged the reputation of the complainant and her family, leading to his sentencing under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
