Karachi police have announced a security deployment of 5,367 personnel for the Youm-i-Ali procession scheduled for Saturday. According to an official statement, strict security arrangements have been made along the procession route to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali, ensuring preparedness for any potential situation.
The security personnel include 76 senior officers, 725 NGO personnel, 3,469 head constables and constables, 137 female police officers, 70 Special Branch personnel, and 75 members of the Rapid Response Force. Additionally, 815 traffic police officers will be on duty to manage traffic flow in the city. Walk-through gates will be installed at the procession’s entry and exit points.
Furthermore, the bomb disposal squad and Special Branch teams will conduct thorough security inspections of the participants. Emergency services, including rescue agencies and ambulances, have been placed on high alert to provide immediate medical assistance if needed.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the emergency helpline. They reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order.
Last year, Youm-i-Ali was observed across Sindh on April 1, with mourning processions in major cities concluding peacefully under strict security. In Karachi, the main procession commenced from Nishtar Park and followed its traditional route before concluding at Imambargah Hussainia Iranian in Kharadar. Security measures included sealing entry points along the route using containers until late at night.
