ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has initiated a sweeping overhaul of Pakistan Television (PTV), according to the Information Ministry.
As part of this extensive reform, Tarar has shut down 25 underperforming shows and implemented a new policy emphasizing transparency, professionalism, and constructive criticism.
In his statement, Tarar vowed to eliminate the culture of bribery, tackle incompetence, and fight the spread of fake news on PTV. He described this initiative as the start of “Operation Clean Up.”
The Minister also announced plans to hire professional anchors and producers to improve the quality of PTV’s programming.
Furthermore, Attaullah Tarar warned that actions will be taken against those who engage in malicious social media campaigns against these reforms.
