Three people, including a woman, were killed after two rival groups exchanged fire over a land dispute in Swat’s Saidu Sharif on Saturday.
The incident occurred in the Mian Baba area, where the dispute between the two sides escalated into armed clashes. Following the firing, police teams quickly reached the location and began securing the area.
Police officials shifted the bodies to Saidu Sharif Hospital for medico-legal procedures. Meanwhile, authorities registered a case against the suspects and launched an investigation to identify and arrest those involved in the deadly exchange.
Police Launch Investigation After Deadly Clash
According to police, investigators are collecting evidence and examining the circumstances that led to the firing. However, authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the victims or suspects involved in the incident.
The latest violence has once again highlighted security concerns in Swat, where armed clashes and targeted attacks have occurred in different areas. Earlier, a separate firing incident in June also claimed three lives in the district.
Three Killed In Earlier Swat Attack
In June 2026, unidentified gunmen opened fire in Shakardara, located in Matta tehsil, killing the son, nephew and bodyguard of local transporter Afzal Gujar.
According to a Swat Police spokesperson, Afzal Gujar also suffered injuries during the attack. Rescue teams shifted him to a hospital, where doctors provided immediate medical treatment following the incident.
Police subsequently continued efforts to trace those responsible for the earlier attack. Meanwhile, authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with investigators during security operations across the district.
