Faizan Boxer, an alleged figure linked to Lahoreโs criminal underworld, was killed on Friday in what police described as an encounter with the Punjab Crime Control Department (CCD). The incident took place in the Ichhra area while a CCD Kotwali team was transporting the suspect to Sheikhupura for identification purposes.
According to police officials, the convoy came under fire when Faizan Boxerโs alleged accomplices attempted to free him during the transfer.
Law enforcement personnel responded, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire. Police claimed that Faizan Boxer was fatally struck by bullets fired by his own associates amid the chaos. No CCD officers were reported injured in the incident.
Authorities said Faizan Boxer was wanted in several serious criminal cases, including murder, robbery, and armed assaults. He had been on the radar of law enforcement agencies for his alleged involvement in multiple violent crimes across Lahore.
The incident has drawn comparisons to another high-profile CCD operation earlier this year. On October 11, 2025, Khawaja Tareef Gulshan, also known as Teefi Butt, the prime suspect in the murder of Ameer Balaj, was killed in an alleged encounter with the CCD in Punjab.
Teefi Butt had been extradited from Dubai just a day earlier and was being transported to the CCD headquarters in Lahore when police said his accomplices attacked the convoy near Kot Sabzal in Rahim Yar Khan district.
Teefi Butt was accused of orchestrating the targeted killing of Ameer Balaj near Thokar Niaz Beg, Lahore, in February 2024. After the incident, he fled abroad and was later declared a proclaimed offender.
Punjab Police subsequently initiated extradition proceedings through the Ministry of Interior, leading to the issuance of Interpol red notices.
Both incidents have sparked debate over the circumstances surrounding such encounters, while police maintain that their actions were taken in self-defence during attempts to free dangerous suspects.
