Lahore has ranked among the world’s safest major cities in the Numbeo Crime and Safety Index 2026. The city recorded the lowest crime index among several leading cities included in the latest rankings.
According to the report, Lahore outperformed several major international cities in the safety index. These cities include Karachi, New Delhi, Paris, London, Washington, New York, and Mexico City.
The latest rankings highlight Lahore’s improving public safety performance. Moreover, the city recorded positive changes in both crime and safety indicators over the past year.
Crime Index Shows Year-On-Year Improvement
The report showed Lahore’s crime index declined from 36.8 in mid-2025 to 36.2 in mid-2026. Meanwhile, the city’s safety index increased from 63.2 to 63.8 during the same period.
The improved rankings reflect a steady decline in reported crime levels. Consequently, Lahore strengthened its position among the world’s safer metropolitan areas.
Police Credit Security Strategy For Progress
DIG Operations Lahore Muhammad Faisal Kamran welcomed the latest rankings. He said the declining crime index reflects the effectiveness of Lahore Police’s security strategy.
The DIG added that continuous efforts have improved public safety across the city. Furthermore, he credited ongoing policing initiatives for the positive results.
Officials believe the improved rankings demonstrate sustained progress in maintaining law and order. Therefore, Lahore continues strengthening its reputation as one of the world’s safest major cities.
