Lahore police have reported a significant drop in serious crimes, claiming a 69% reduction over the past two years. The figures were shared by Lahore DIG Operations Faisal Kamran during the release of comparative crime statistics for May 2023 to May 2025.
According to official data, the total number of reported crimes fell dramatically from 6,836 in May 2023 to 2,136 cases in May 2025. The statistics highlight major progress in curbing violent and property-related crimes across the city.
Among the most notable reductions, robbery incidents dropped by 83%, declining from 1,305 cases to just 357. Motorcycle thefts saw a 61% reduction, while cases of car snatching and armed robbery (dacoity) have reportedly been eradicated altogether.
DIG Kamran attributed these improvements to a combination of visible policing, the use of advanced technology, and an aggressive crackdown on organized crime networks. He emphasized that the results reflect the effectiveness of Lahore police’s “data-driven policing” model, which prioritizes analysis, intelligence gathering, and strategic deployment of resources.
“This dramatic reduction is a validation of our proactive, tech-enabled approach to urban crime management,” Kamran stated. He also noted that the department has increased patrols, improved surveillance infrastructure, and intensified operations in crime-prone areas, contributing to a more secure environment for residents.
The DIG also acknowledged the support of the public and emphasized community engagement as a cornerstone of sustainable crime prevention. “Our efforts are focused not just on arresting criminals but on preventing crime through smart strategies and community partnerships,” he added.
The decline in serious crimes aligns with the police’s broader objective of enhancing public safety and restoring confidence in law enforcement institutions. The department is expected to continue leveraging digital tools and real-time data analysis to maintain and improve the security situation in the provincial capital.
