Female Officers Now Available Around the Clock
Lahore Police has introduced a new initiative requiring female police officers to remain available at every police station throughout the day and night.
The measure is designed to improve safety, privacy and immediate assistance for women who approach police stations for complaints or other legal matters.
DIG Lahore Muhammad Faisal Kamran said female personnel have been assigned across different shifts to ensure continuous availability.
According to the announced arrangement, three female officers will serve during the morning shift at each police station.
Two female officers will be assigned during the evening shift.
The deployment is intended to ensure that women visiting police stations can interact with female personnel whenever required.
The move is particularly important for women reporting harassment, domestic violence, sexual offences or other sensitive cases.
Police officials believe the presence of female officers can make complainants more comfortable when discussing personal or traumatic incidents.
Punjab Police has previously deployed female personnel for women’s security during major public events and gatherings, reflecting a broader effort to improve gender-sensitive policing.
Women Complainants to Receive Greater Privacy
Under the new system, female complainants will be assisted in the presence of female police officers.
Authorities say this will provide a more respectful and private environment inside police stations.
The measure is also aimed at reducing hesitation among women who may otherwise feel uncomfortable discussing sensitive cases with male officers.
For many women, visiting a police station can be intimidating, particularly when reporting abuse or harassment.
The new arrangement seeks to remove some of those barriers by ensuring trained female personnel are available.
Police officials say the initiative will also improve communication between law enforcement agencies and female citizens.
Greater female representation at police stations could help authorities collect more accurate statements and respond more effectively to complaints involving women and children.

Women Still Represent Only Five Percent of Lahore Police
Despite the new deployment policy, women remain significantly underrepresented in Lahore Police.
According to DIG Faisal Kamran, female officers currently make up only around five percent of the force.
Authorities are therefore taking steps to increase recruitment and expand the number of women serving in law enforcement.
Increasing female representation would make it easier to maintain permanent deployment at police stations without placing excessive pressure on the existing workforce.
It could also create more opportunities for women to serve in investigation, operations, public assistance and leadership positions.
The latest initiative represents a significant operational change for Lahore Police because it ensures that female personnel are available beyond regular daytime working hours.
Police authorities expect the measure to provide quicker assistance and greater confidence to women seeking help during emergencies.
If successfully implemented, the system could also become a model for expanding round-the-clock female police availability in other districts across Punjab.
