Military urges public to remain calm as security measures remain in place
KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait’s armed forces said on Monday that the country’s air defence systems successfully intercepted missiles and drones during what the military described as an Iranian attack, prompting authorities to activate emergency response measures and issue public safety guidance.
In an official statement, the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces said air defence units had engaged multiple incoming aerial threats. The military added that explosion sounds heard in different areas were the result of successful interceptions and defensive operations.
The General Staff described the incident as “criminal Iranian aggression.” However, Iranian authorities had not immediately commented on the allegation, and the reported attack had not been independently verified at the time of publication.
Authorities issue public safety guidance
Following the reported interceptions, the Kuwaiti military urged residents to remain calm and rely exclusively on official government statements for accurate information. Authorities also advised the public to follow all safety instructions issued by emergency agencies while security forces continued monitoring the situation.
Officials did not immediately provide details on the number of missiles or drones involved, nor did they report casualties or significant damage resulting from the reported incident.
Meanwhile, security agencies remained on high alert as air defence systems continued surveillance of the country’s airspace.
