Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Doga area of Kurram, killing seven terrorists belonging to the India-backed militant group Fitnatul Khawarij, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operation was launched after credible intelligence reports indicated the presence of terrorists in the area. During the intense exchange of fire, an army captain and five soldiers embraced martyrdom while fighting valiantly against the militants.
The martyred officer was identified as Captain Noman Saleem Shaheed, aged 24, who hailed from Mianwali. The other soldiers who sacrificed their lives included Naik Waqas Ahmed (36) from Swabi, Havaldar Amjad Ali (39) from Rawalpindi, Sepoy Aijaz Ali (23) from Shikarpur, Sepoy Muhammad Waleed (23) from Jhelum, and Sepoy Muhammad Shahbaz (32) from Khairpur.
ISPR said the terrorists were involved in attacks targeting both security forces and innocent civilians. Their elimination marks a significant success in ongoing efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region.
The statement added that security forces and law enforcement agencies remain fully committed to eradicating terrorism from Pakistan’s soil. Under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, the campaign against terrorist networks continues with full intensity to root out extremist elements.
“The security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR said.
Funeral prayers for the martyred personnel were offered with full military honors, and their bodies have been sent to their hometowns for burial. The operation in Kurram reflects the ongoing nationwide counterterrorism efforts aimed at ensuring lasting peace and stability across Pakistan.
