The Kremlin said Thursday that it was too early to discuss Russian President Vladimir Putin’s possible participation in the G20 summit in Miami later this year.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said no decision had been made regarding Putin’s attendance at the December 14-15 summit.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Wednesday that Washington had invited Putin to the gathering.
Rubio said the summit could provide Putin an opportunity to meet US President Donald Trump and other world leaders.
Peskov added that Russia would continue participating in G20 activities, while officials would discuss Putin’s attendance through diplomatic channels.
Putin last attended a G20 summit in person in 2019, while he joined later meetings remotely.
Russia-Armenia Relations
Separately, Peskov said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan would visit Moscow in the near future.
However, he said the two sides had not agreed on a specific date for the visit.
Peskov also said Russia respects Armenia’s sovereignty but stressed that Yerevan faces a choice between the European Union and Eurasian Economic Union.
He argued that shifting toward different standards could conflict with the EAEU’s rules and principles.
Meanwhile, Peskov said the Kremlin had no information about Ukraine’s reported transfer of two captured North Korean soldiers to South Korea.
