PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s new 13-member cabinet, including 10 ministers, two advisers, and a special assistant, will be sworn in at 3 pm today (Friday). Governor Faisal Karim Kundi signed the summary of appointments submitted by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, confirming the formation of the new provincial setup.
The cabinet includes Mina Khan, Fazal Shakoor, Faisal Turkai, Aaqibullah, Arshad Ayub Khan, Aftab Alam, Dr Amjad, Khaliq-ur-Rehman, Riaz Khan, and Syed Fakhar Jehan as ministers. Mazmil Aslam and Taj Muhammad Tarand will serve as advisers, while Shafeeullah Jan has been appointed as the special assistant to the chief minister.
The oath-taking ceremony will be held at the Governor’s House in Peshawar.
Afridi Denied Meeting with Imran Khan Again
The development comes shortly after Chief Minister Afridi was once again denied permission to meet PTI founder Imran Khan in Central Jail Rawalpindi, despite an Islamabad High Court order. It marked the fourth denial since Afridi’s election as chief minister on October 13.
Afridi had told Geo News that he had begun reviewing provincial affairs and received several briefings, with more to follow. He said consultations for a “short but effective” cabinet had concluded in line with the PTI founder’s directives.
Focus on Governance and Public Service
The young PTI leader stressed that effective governance depends on sincerity and intent rather than experience alone. “Running provincial affairs requires a will to serve the people, not just experience,” Afridi remarked.
He confirmed that more than 10 members would take the oath in the first phase, while additional appointments were still under consideration.
