The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced plans to auction fancy vehicle number plates bearing the names of prominent political and national figures, including PTI founder Imran Khan, President Asif Ali Zardari, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, and PPP founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Plates featuring Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will also be available for bidding.
Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Syed Fakhar Jehan confirmed that the initiative aims to generate significant revenue for the national exchequer while offering citizens a unique opportunity to own premium number plates linked to well-known leaders.
In the first phase of the auction, plates such as ‘Imran Khan-804’ and ‘Imran Khan-1’ will be available on January 27, 2026. Plates bearing the names of other political leaders and national figures will be included in subsequent phases.
In addition to political personalities, the auction will feature number plates highlighting various castes, including Afridi, Gandapur, Durrani, Kundi, Yousufzai, Mahsood, and Khattak. Interested participants can submit applications through the Dastak app, with the submission deadline set for January 26.
Bidding for the fancy number plates will start at Rs 1 million, and the highest bidder will secure their preferred plate. Minister Fakhar Jehan noted that vehicle owners have shown strong interest in the initiative, which is expected to attract competitive bids.
According to the Excise and Taxation Department, the auction will be held at Nishtar Hall in Peshawar, and all formal procedures will be followed to ensure transparency and fairness. Officials highlighted that the auction not only provides a distinctive opportunity for citizens to personalize their vehicles but also contributes to public revenue.
The initiative reflects the provincial government’s efforts to explore innovative revenue streams while engaging citizens with a unique and high-profile program. The auction is expected to draw widespread attention from collectors, enthusiasts, and supporters of various political and national figures.
